What makes a great children’s party venue?
It’s a common question, and there’s a lot to think about when choosing the perfect spot for your child’s big day.
As Magic Wanda and Professor Potty, we perform at kids’ parties every week, so we’ve seen plenty of venues – some fantastic, others not so much. So, what should you look for?
Parties at home
Cost is one obvious consideration, as children’s parties can be an expensive affair. So why not have the party at home? We regularly perform in client’s houses, with up to twenty or so children. It’s a personal choice, but by carefully re-arranging furniture and removing fragile items, a “front room” can make a great venue to have a traditional style children’s party.

A great venue can be the key to a party that’s a hit!
Here’s what to keep in mind when choosing the perfect hall venue:
Size matters: Is the venue too big or just right? Smaller venues can create a cozy, fun atmosphere!
Make sure the venue has a kitchen if you need one—not all halls do! And don’t forget to check that there are adequate toilet facilities.
Parking: Make sure there’s enough parking to avoid any last-minute chaos. You don’t want guests (or your entertainer) arriving late!
Temperature control: Check if the room can stay cool in the summer—nothing worse than being stuck in a stifling room with the windows locked shut!
Sound quality: Avoid echoey spaces like sports halls. A carpeted room will help absorb noise, keeping the kids calm and the entertainment clear.
Lighting: Make sure the lights work! We’ve performed in rooms that got darker by the minute. And, hide any distractions—no unlocked pianos or random toys lying around!
Safety first: If the venue has a stage, block off the steps and close the curtains. A good entertainer will help ensure it stays off-limits.
Seating: Is there enough seating for kids and adults? Make sure everyone’s comfortable, and if possible, set up a separate area for parents to relax while the kids enjoy the show.
